Happy new year Basement People!

What a year it has been for TDCC! This year Two Door continued to bring Gameshow to venues worldwide, here are some of the best Basement People moments from this past year:

Asia Tour

Two Door kicked off the year by heading to Japan, Korea and Singapore; Korean basement people showed their love creatively by throwing paper planes to the band onstage! TDCC were also presented with gifts and a beautiful cake that they shared on instagram:

Thanks for the awesome presents basement people! Korea FTW

Two Door also appeared on MTV Japan, as well as on a Japanese television show where all three of them had little idea what was going on. This has little to do with TDCC fans, but I had to include it because I find it hilarious:

UK Tour

Soon after the band set off to tour the UK, starting in Birmingham with support acts Anteros and Sundara Karma. Two Door kindly launched #TDCCUKtour to showcase some Basement People photography of the tour on their official site.

I was also incredibly lucky to see the boys play in Southampton! To show my Basement People spirit I wore gameshow glitter facepaint, held a ‘Basement People love you’ banner front row and I got to meet Basement People in person which was truly wonderful. Alex Trimble smiled at me too. Dreams come true sometimes.

An honorable mention goes to Sophia Zamolodchikova, who presented a meme of Alex Trimble as an egg circulating the internet created by Basement People to the man himself, in Brighton.

I can’t distinguish Alex’s emotion in this photo… Is he happy? Slightly disappointed in us? Or secretly proud of his fans?  We will never know.

TDCC pulled the UK tour to a close by playing two sold-out shows at Alexandra Palace, London. Footage filmed of both nights, including some close-ups of some lucky Basement People, was used to create the final music video for Gameshow, Lavender:

One of our site admins, Maybrit was able to go and meet the band at the after party too!

European Tour

Merely a week after performing in London, Two Door set off to play Europe with support acts Blaenavon and Parcels. Our original site admin Saoirse was lucky enough to see Two Door for the tenth time! Read about her experience here:

South America Tour

Not only has 2017 been a great year for Two Door Cinema Club fans, it has also been a great year for Two Door themselves as fans! In late 2016, you may remember the band mentioning they are a fan of Devo as well as doing a cover of ‘Whip it’ on Radio 1 – this February, they were lucky enough to receive a remix of Bad Decisions by Devo:

In Columbia, a lovely fan met Alex and sent me this! Forever grateful for your support Karen!

At Lollapalooza Brasil, the boys were shocked (and incredibly happy) to notice that Ronaldo was watching their set! Here they talk about their love for the footballer:

US Fall Tour

Alex recognized and showed artwork by fan Elise to the audience of when she threw her fan art on stage in the form of a paper airplane:

I only threw 2 art planes on stage and one of them got dragged by Alex's guitar cord. I wasn't sure if he spotted it and I was like "It's like the other art planes, he's probably not gonna pick it up" <- definitely thought too soon. One thing I noticed is that he was jumping around everywhere and seemed to be stepping on every spot on the stage, but he avoided the plane??? So I was like "wait, did he see it?" Okay *inhales* let me have a moment. Okay. After "Are We Ready" was over, Kevin was talking to the crowd and then I see Alex bending down and I sAW HE WAS PICKING UO THE ARTPLANE, SO MY EYES JUST FREAKING WIDENED AND I GRABBED MY DAD'S SHIRT AND JUST WENT "HE'S PICKINB IT UP, HES PICKING IT UP" AND THEN HE OPEMS IT HWNSHOWS IT TO THE BARRICADE CROWD AND i jUST STARTED SCREAMING LIKE A MANIAC "ALEX, ALEX" And everyone I met at the barricade and knew about my idea (one of them being @fun_in_the_sun98) just looked at me like "Ho-Lee Crap" And so they all started screaming "OVER HERE!!! RIGHT HERE!!!" And before I knew it, there was a crowd of fans all pointing at me. I just started crying because I was Sh00k™ to the extreme.

Moscow

Similar to what occurred in Seoul, paper gameshow-coloured hearts were given out by Basement People which were held throughout the concert. The band posted on Instagram, saying that the felt the love too!

Holy shit! Moscow you were crazy last night. We felt the love. Hope you felt it too.

Another lovely Basement person also dedicated her heart to me <3 thank you Julia Prok!

It has truly been an amazing year for Two Door Cinema Club. The band has been able to travel the world thanks to the support by you Basement People.

Two Door will next be playing in London this year for their biggest headline show at Community Festival, on the 1st of July. I’ve got my ticket! Hopefully I will be able to see some of you there too 🙂

Happy New Year,
